Alternative Dispute Resolution
This course provides a survey of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including negotiation, mediation, arbitration and court-annexed programs. The course examines the theory and practice of ADR, as well as legal developments related thereto. The course is highly interactive. The material is presented through exercises, simulations, videos and class discussions. Lawyering skills are emphasized. Enrollment Note: Students who have earned credit for Intensive ADR may not earn credit for this course.
Grading and Method of Evaluation:
Letter grade only. Students will be required to write a short paper and complete a take-home examination. Class attendance is critical. Grades will be based on class participation, performance on skills training and written work.
