LL.M. for Internationally Trained Lawyers

Brooklyn Law School's LL.M. program was inducted into the New York Law Journal’s "Best of" Hall of Fame for being voted either the #1 or #2 Best General LL.M. Program five years in a row (2014-2018).  Our program is designed to help lawyers trained abroad connect with other international lawyers, our world class faculty and over 23,000 alumni. These relationships are built through our LL.M. students’ work in our clinics, externships and pro bono projects, in courses that focus on the specific academic needs of those with legal training from abroad, in our alumni mentorship program and in the extracurricular community we create. Brooklyn Law School has created a unique program that help its graduates develop the network they need to advance their legal education and careers.

Our program also facilitates specialized study in a number of areas, including business law, intellectual property law, and refugee and immigration law. While these three specializations draw on Brooklyn Law School's academic strengths, the Law School can also accommodate tailored study plans for those students who wish to specialize in other areas of the law.

LL.M. students are very much a part of the Law School’s thriving intellectual and cultural life. To facilitate integration into our community, we provide guaranteed housing in Feil Hall to all applicants meeting our housing deadline. Feil Hall is a modern, furnished residence hall located just a few blocks from the Law School with over 200 apartments.

To help prepare incoming students for the program and because language is essential to being an effective lawyer, the Law School’s Legal Language Institute offers a three and four-week summer program in intensive Legal English. Designed specifically for foreign lawyers and law students, this intensive training will be extraordinarily beneficial prior to any U.S. legal studies.
