Karen Brooks Hopkins, President of BAM and one of the first-ever inductees in the Crain’s New York Business Hall of Fame, will discuss BAM’s role in the Brooklyn renaissance. She will reveal how BAM built its world-renowned stature through the cutting-edge programming of The Next Wave Festival and how BAM’s place as the anchor for creation of the Brooklyn Cultural District, fostering the growth of new, innovative arts organizations and developing community facilities, is a model for the role of the arts as an economic engine.
