In more than six years as a prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, Winston M. Paes ’03 hasn’t lost a case. Recognizing that winning streak, the U.S. Attorney’s Office recently named him Chief of the Business and Securities Fraud Section for the Eastern District of New York.

Paes is passionate about the city’s fight against white-collar crime and committed to making his colleagues proud—most notably Loretta Lynch, his boss until she was sworn in as the U.S. Attorney General on April 27. Before joining the Eastern District as a prosecutor in 2008, Paes spent more than four years as an associate at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he focused on securities and regulatory issues.

Paes spent his childhood in Goa, a former Portuguese settlement on India’s west coast, and moved to New York when he was 18 years old. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in biology from Stony Brook University on Long Island and graduated magna cum laude from Brooklyn Law School. He currently serves as a board member of the Brooklyn Law School Alumni Association.
