05.08.15 Professor Jodi Balsam in The New York Times on “Deflategate”
    Jodi Balsam

Professor Jodi Balsam, a former lawyer for the NFL, contributed to a New York Times article “An Educated Guess at the Patriots’ Punishment,” that asked leading voices in sports law “What will the NFL do with Tom Brady and the Patriots?” An investigation had found  “it is more probable than not” that the New England Patriots intentionally deflated footballs to gain an advantage during this year’s A.F.C. championship game.

Professor Balsam responded: “Short answer: fines, possibly draft picks and change of game-day protocols.” She also said “This sort of behavior indicates a cultural issue and responsibility should start at the top. And the cultural issue goes beyond the Patriots, although history shows they’re clearly among the worst offenders.”
