06.01.15 Melissa Brennan ’09 and Tanisha McKnight ’04 Named ‘Rising Stars’ by New York Law Journal
    Rising Stars

Melissa Brennan ’09 and Tanisha McKnight ’04 were among the 50 young lawyers chosen as 2015 Rising Stars by a panel of 24 esteemed judges for the New York Law Journal.

The judges reviewed nominations of nearly 300 attorneys age 40 and under. The honorees were selected based on their accomplishments and contributions to the practice of law and their communities.

Brennan currently provides legal services for Sanctuary for Families, New York’s leading advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and related forms of gender violence. McKnight is the Director of Paralegal and Volunteer Services at The Children's Law Center, whose mission is to give a child a strong and effective voice in a legal proceeding that has a critical impact on his or her life.

Brennan and McKnight both regularly return to Brooklyn Law School to speak with students and assist them in pro bono and internship opportunities. Profiles of New York Law Journal’s Rising Stars will appear in a special issue in June.
