Azizah Ahmad ’18 and Katherine Zhang ’17 were recognized for their leadership at the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Law Foundation Nov. 7 at the NAPABA Rising Convention at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.

Ahmad, a former communications manager for NAPABA, received an Anheuser-Busch/NAPABA Law Foundation Presidential Scholarships for demonstrating outstanding leadership potential to serve the Asian Pacific American community. She was one of two awardees selected by the foundation in consultation with the president of NAPABA.

"I am honored and grateful to have been recognized by people I admire and look up to,” Ahmad said. “I hope to bring what I learned from them, as leaders and trailblazers in the Asian Pacific American legal community, to Brooklyn Law School and become a better advocate for my community."

Zhang, who is president of the Law School’s Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, was elected as the Northeast Regional Director of the National Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.

“It was an honor and a privilege to represent Brooklyn Law at this year’s NAPABA Convention,” Zhang said. “I look forward to growing BLS APALSA with my fellow members and continuing to promote the Asian Pacific American community.”
