Three alumni have been named 2018 “40 Under 40” Emerging Leaders in Insolvency Practice by the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI): Christopher Gartman ’07, counsel in the Corporate Reorganization & Bankruptcy group at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP in New York; Alexa Kranzley ‘08, special counsel in the Finance and Restructuring Group at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York; and Jennifer Marines ’05, partner in the Business Restructuring & Insolvency Group and deputy chair of the finance department at Morrison & Foerster LLP in New York.

They will be recognized at a special luncheon during ABI’s 2018 Winter Leadership Conference, to be held Dec. 6-8 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“The 2018 ABI ‘40 Under 40’ Class is already advancing the bankruptcy profession forward,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “These remarkable men and women are attaining achievements not just in their professional careers, but also as leaders in their communities.”

Honorees were selected from several hundred nominations from both large and small firms across the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, consulting, academia, and government.

The Law School is well-regarded for its strong corporate and bankruptcy law programs, led by Edward Janger, the David M. Barse Professor of Law, a leading expert on commercial transactions and bankruptcy law, and Professor Michael Gerber, the author of a Chapter 11 casebook used in law schools nationwide and a contributing author of Collier on Bankruptcy, the leading treatise on bankruptcy law. Janger also is co-director of the Center for the Study of Business Law and Regulation, the past chair of the Association of American Law Schools’ Section on Commercial and Consumer Law, and a member of the American College of Bankruptcy, the International Insolvency Institute, and the American Law Institute.
